"In response to the concerns raised by yourself in relation to the public inquiry issue, I can confirm the Roads Service position as outlined by me at at the public exhibition last Wednesday 18 November.

Any objections received to the proposals will be carefully considered. Those that cannot be resolved to the satisfaction of individual objectors may be considered at a local inquiry by an independent inspector. No decision on the implemetation of the scheme will be taken until this process is completed.

I also attach, as requested, a copy of the paper sent from the Department (Alan Doherty) to the DRD Committe Clerk (Rosin Kelly) in response to the Committee's request for written briefing on the consultation process. In it we point out that if any objections are recieved that cannot be resolved, Roads Service may initiate a local inquiry to consider these objections. The matter of the minutes is being drawn to the attention of the Regional Development Committee.

I trust that this is helpful."
